As you may know, there are a lot of tools that I enjoy using. I have found some tools to make the job much more convenient.
Working as a first responder for many years, all the help you can get is very welcoming.
These Raptor Shears are one that simply makes your job a lot easier.
I quickly realized I used shears more often than I wanted to admit.
One thing I’ve found is you cannot just pull out a pocket knife and cut someone’s pants or even a vehicles seat belt (first of all, your knife needs to be sharp. Also, it would suck if you slipped and your knife cut the subject you are trying to help).
I started looking for a better tool for the job.
I noticed a few of my local medics had a cool-looking foldable contraption attached to their pants. I later found out it was the next piece of equipment I purchased, the Leatherman Raptor Shears.
To sum it up, these things are amazing.

What Are These Things?
The Leatherman Raptor shears are a multipurpose tool.
There are six tools, and the impressive part is that they have been designed them to fold easily. Allowing this tool to be stored in half the size.
The shears can be attached to your pocket with an included clip on the side (how I carry them).
They also have a polymer holster that you can use with a molle-compatible bag.
I have this holster on the outside of my patrol bag, so I know where they are located if they are not in my pocket.
Without getting into all the next features, you can access some of the crucial tools with smooth one-hand operation, such as the seatbelt cutter.
A cool feature about the polymer holster, you can store the shears in the collapsed or fully extended version. Allowing you to store them in either position quickly.
Having the ability to have multiple options is one way this tool can appeal to many different folks (not just first responders)
Features
Let’s get to the part you have been waiting for. What features does this “Amazing Tool” have to offer?
First off, I think it’s important to mention that I have cut all types of clothing, leather, seat belts, nails, rings, and much more with these shears.
I will go as far as to say these even cut through almost everything like a hot knife through butter!
As I enjoy having cool gear, seeing what else they will cut has been fun. I have tested the pair I own on some random things.
So far, they have not disappointed. I have also demonstrated to my coworkers that often ask, “What is that cool-looking tool you have?”
Due to discussing these shears with many people, I decided on this review. I hope to get them to read this, yes, that might be you!
So what are the features of these shears? Well, let’s get to it!
These are the medical shears I’m sure you have seen before.
Only these have a whole lot more uses. Not only that, but these Leatherman Raptor Sheers look a lot cooler than the original ones you see medics carrying!
And they are much safer to keep in your pocket. As I mentioned above, I have found these shears can cut practically anything you throw at them.
To include some of the features here:
- These shears are made out of 420 stainless steel
- Have a glass-filled nylon handle
- A lanyard hold, if you need it
- My favorite is a replaceable pocket clip
- The best part, these shears are made in the USA
- Have an incredible 25-year warranty!

- Very Sharp Scissors
- Strap Cutter (I’ve used it on seatbelts numerous times)
- Ring Cutter (I have used this, and it works!)
- Ruler (small, but I guess it would work if you needed it)
- Oxygen Tank Wrench (nice to have)
- Carbide Glass Breaker
- And all of this is in 5.8 oz or 164 grams!
As with anything good in life, there is always a negative.
The only con for these that you might say is the cost of them too. If you buy it at full price, you are looking at $79.95.
That is a bit of a price tag, but most quality gear has a higher price tag.
You remember I waited to purchase mine from the best store ever. And, if you don’t have a membership with them, you are missing out.
You can even make good use of your yearly dividend at this particular store. This helps with the higher-cost products!
Great Practical Uses
Leatherman has made these Raptor Shears with practical uses without going overboard.
Most of the time, I forget they are there, but I am happy when I need them.
Having all this in an excellent small package makes this tool a daily carry when I’m at work.
The side pocket clip is what makes this simple and effective. They are easy to carry, and I’ve had people ask if they could borrow them.
That is not going to happen!
I tend to guide you to items and places that I like. For this one, I was going to try and do my first product review video.
My idea was not only to show this tool but also to explain all its fantastic features. Then I remembered someone else already did it (I watched his video before buying this product myself).
So, it didn’t take me long to realize that I did no need to recreate the wheel.

If you are reading this summary, Leatherman also has a fantastic warranty, but I have yet to need to use it. I also ensure I wash them regularly (even more often now, depending on what I last used them for).
I feel that gadgets and tools are always cool and fun to learn about. But when you have one that also makes your job easier, it’s a no-brainer.
Buy them and see how awesome they are for yourself. Or ask someone you see carrying these shears. I have yet to hear someone have buyer’s remorse after purchasing this tool.
