Have you ever had an amazing grilled cheese sandwich? What about amazing mac and cheese?
Well, there is one crucial ingredient between those two. That is cheese.
Being from the original and best cheese state, finding good quality cheese is always high on my list.
Wisconsin is home to some of the best cheese in the United States.
If you think California has the best cheese, you’re mistaken. They are a close second (for in the US).
Check out the chart below because I know some of you will challenge my stand for the best cheese. You will see Wisconsin is Dairy State and for a good reason.
There are many good cheese factories in the United States, such as Tillamook. But there’s something about the stuff you get from Wisconsin. I stand by my statement. They have some of the best cheese in the United States.
Last year, I was able to visit the Tillamook factory in Oregon. I will admit it was a lot of fun and some excellent ice cream!
Best Place For Cheese
First of all, you might wonder why I’m writing about cheese.
Well, most people know that I LOVE CHEESE. That’s all there is to it.
A friend of mine recently found a job posting for a cheesemonger and thought of me.
There is only one place to turn to when you want to have good-quality cheese. That would be my home state of Wisconsin.
I do have to mention there are some other amazing places to get great cheese. The first that comes to mind is France. They had some fantastic options, but that’s for another post. We are sticking to the United States here.
Wisconsinites know their cheese, and don’t get me started on the “happy cow” nonsense if you are from California.
Wisconsin Cheese is Like No Other
There are times when I need a cheese fix.
Such as when you feel like having the best-grilled cheese or a slice of cheese as a quick snack.
But how do you get quality cheese, especially when you live in California?
After some trial and error, I found the best way to get good cheese to my home.
Ordering it and having it shipped.
Yeah, you read that right. Every year or two, I place an order for cheese, which allows me to have a taste of home for a few months.
The place I order from is close to my family. I’ve been there in person many times too. That’s the reason I order from them when I have a taste for the good stuff.
You cannot go wrong with any cheese in Wisconsin, but one place stands out to me.
Getting to try cheese curds
So you don’t have to guess what I ordered. Guess what? These so-called “Cheese Curds” were small fried mozzarella cheese balls.
Let’s say their burger did NOT live up to its name.
Fried mozzarella is NOT the same as cheese curd.

Wisconsin Cheese – Shipped!
Let’s be real here, if you are into cheese, you want to get the good stuff.
Since I mentioned them above, it’s time to find out who they are.
Again, I’ve been going to and ordering from this business for many years.
The business is Bieri’s Jackson Cheese and Deli.
Going to any cheese shop is better in person. After all, you get to try anything (everything) you want! But the next best option is getting it shipped to your doorstep.
I’ll post a few pictures of my recent order and the BEST pub cheese you will ever have.
- Swiss Almond spread (if you have ever had pub cheese, this is better)
- Hot Pepper
- Mild Tomato Basil Cheddar
- Sharp Cheddar (this is a must with every order, get the four years at least, but the 20 is fantastic)
Want to get something spicy? Get two of my favorites, the ghost pepper or jalapeno cheddar.
The worst part about Wisconsin cheese is that it doesn’t seem to last. Especially the Swiss Almond spread. You will need more than one container, as the first one will be gone fast!
Call ahead of time because Bieri’s only ships during a few months out of the year!
That’s because it’s cheese, and you don’t want it left out for an extended period of time.
Two pieces of advice after ordering Wisconsin cheese.
- Make sure you have some quality bread, tortillas, and crackers.
- Immediately take the cheese you don’t want to eat and put it in the freezer. This is the ONLY way your cheese will last for more than a few sittings. Let’s be real. It’s good stuff and won’t last (because you will eat all of it).
What’s Your Favorite Cheese?
As we all know, there are many different types of cheese, each with its unique flavor.
No matter your preference, there is a type of cheese out there that will satisfy your taste buds.
I’m kidding, sort of, about Wisconsin being the best. Okay, I’m not kidding.
But all taste buds are different, and it’s totally cool to disagree with me. Just know that you are wrong.
If you ever have the option, I challenge you to try Wisconsin cheese. You may stumble upon the best cheese you ever had.
Although I might be biased, I am always looking for my next favorite cheese if it’s a family-owned business, all the better.

Cheese is delicious all by itself. And, oh, how it can make other foods even better.
