Did you know that every time you get online, your data can be recovered by cyber hackers?
These hackers are lurking in the shadows, ready to seize your private information from anywhere globally.
And they are tough to find because they can cover their tracks!
It’s no longer a question of ‘if’ but ‘when’ someone will attempt to access your virtual life.
This blog post unveils the imperative of VPNs, your invisible shields against online marauders.
As the digital battleground intensifies, don’t wait for a breach—empower yourself with a VPN and fortify your cyber defenses.
It’s time you learn how to protect yourself!
I hope that introduction helped set the scene of what we will discuss today.
That is a VPN, also known as a virtual private network.
What led me to find Surfshark was a few years ago, when I was on my amazing road trip, my original VPN started having serious problems. The biggest one was that it wouldn’t connect!
As you can imagine, this is not ideal when you depend on public Wi-Fi for work and online posting.
Doing a Google search, I found a few VPNs I started looking into further. And I settled on Surfshark.
There are a few selling points that made me decide to go with them, but now I’m so happy I did. Interestingly enough, I’ve told many people about Surfshark and even discovered many friends already use them too.
It was due to getting tons of questions about how I stay safe online that I decided to write this post.
That said, everyone should use a VPN for some amazing features we will cover shortly, and if you ever connect to a public or open Wi-Fi.

If you are wondering, I’m writing this because I’ve received questions and concerns about online privacy and security.
We can all agree that the Internet has become integral to our daily lives, offering us information, communication tools, and convenience.
Whether on the road, visiting your local coffee shop, working at a library, or any other public Wi-Fi, you want to ensure you are safe!
Ready to learn more? Let’s go!
What is a VPN?
Every online action, from sharing personal information to browsing websites, can leave us susceptible to prying eyes, data breaches, and cyberattacks.
This is why safeguarding your online privacy and security has become essential for individuals, businesses, and organizations.
One way to keep yourself safe is to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) like Surfshark, which helps ensure your online activities remain private, secure, and shielded from unwarranted surveillance.
You know there are few options besides public Wi-Fi or hotspots when traveling or on the road. Unless you have StarLink, that will be another post (if you are interested).
So, having a VPN is something that everyone needs!

Here is an interesting post to learn more about VPNs.
But you might not know why.
The primary purpose of having a VPN is to enhance online privacy, security, and anonymity.
VPNs achieve this security by creating an encrypted connection between your device and a remote server (typically hosted in a different location, which will be essential to remember later).
After some research, I’ve found a few of the primary purposes to use a VPN:
- Privacy Protection: A VPN masks your IP address and routes internet traffic through its servers. This makes it difficult for websites, advertisers, or malicious actors to track your online activities. It helps preserve your anonymity and privacy.
- Data Encryption: VPNs use robust encryption protocols to secure your internet connection. This encryption ensures your data remains confidential and is protected from eavesdropping, especially on unsecured or public Wi-Fi networks.
- Bypassing Geo-Restrictions: VPNs allow you to access content and websites that may be restricted or blocked in your region. Connecting to a server in a different location can appear to be browsing from that region, granting you access to region-specific content (like unlocking TV shows you wish were still on your streaming services).
- Security on Public Wi-Fi: When you connect to public Wi-Fi networks in cafes, airports, or hotels, your data is vulnerable to interception. A VPN protects your data, making it safe to use public Wi-Fi without the risk of data theft.
- Protection from Hackers: VPNs add an extra layer of security, which can safeguard your data from cybercriminals and hackers attempting to steal sensitive information or inject malicious software.
You can think of VPNs as a versatile tool that offers a range of benefits.
However, their core purpose is to establish a secure and private connection, safeguarding your online activities and data from various threats and restrictions.
Are you still wondering if Surfshark VPN is trustworthy and safe to use?
As someone who has used many VPNs over the years, Surfshark has been the BEST VPN I’ve USED!
Their service hasn’t disappointed me once. Not only is it super easy to connect, but it’s also fast and, most importantly, reliable.
What to Know About Surfshark
Surfshark ensures online safety through various features. With strong encryption protocols, your internet connection becomes a secure fortress, impervious to eavesdropping.
Surfshark makes surfing the web easy and secure. Not only do they offer an amazing VPN (which we are covering today), but they also have an antivirus, alert monitoring, and more.
One of the things that got me sold with their service is their unlimited devices, data, and speed offer. That means you can be protected on ALL your devices for one simple price!
With all that said, we will cover the price soon, but it’s affordable.
Their VPN is so easy to use, and they even have a “Kill Switch,” so you know when you aren’t protected.
If you’re ever having issues with anything, you can easily switch to another location.
I mention this because the San Francisco connection often gives me issues. Within a few seconds, I can change it to another location (and even make the ones I like using into favorites!).

This topic is relevant for everyone.
With the use of all our devices on the internet – it is necessary.
Let’s be honest … we all rely on our computers for practically EVERYTHING.
Everyone must have some level of terror about cyber security.
How many stories have there been in the news about huge companies being attacked?
I know I have experienced fear and panic when a warning pops up on my computer screen.
Surfshark has been great for me!
I am using it based on your recommendation, and have been very happy with the service.
Thanks for sharing this!
That’s great and glad you’ve liked it. It truly is one of the better VPNs I’ve tried. Now to get more people to try it out!
I forgot to mention that from time to time there are websites that will not work with the VPN turned on.
The good news it that this is easily resolved.
If it’s a website that I REALLY want to use, I simply click on the Surfshark icon and it gives me a “Pause” button that I can simply click on. It allows me to select 5 minutes, 30 minutes, or 2 hours. It’s a very handy feature.
That’s a really good point. I also found if you go into incognito (in Google), you won’t have any issues either.
